The friends arrived to the park last night at 10:30pm and awoke to the news they had to leave their campsite by noon. All three gentleman are from Florida, and it was their first visit to the park. Miguel stated, "What can you do? Try again some other day." The friends plan to drive to the San Francisco Bay Area.<br />

Yosemite Valley closed to visitors at 12:00 noon today, Wednesday, July 25, 2018, due air quality and safety concerns due to a wildfire burning near the park. <br />
<br />
The Ferguson Fire has closed Highway 140, one of the main arteries into the park. Many park employees, park concession employees and campground hosts remain inside Yosemite Valley at present.

  • Yosemite National Park, closed due to the Covid-19 pandemic since March 20, 2020, re-opened to the public this morning, Thursday, June 11, 2020.<br />
<br />
In accordance with guidance from the White House, Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), state and local public health authorities, Yosemite National Park is open with limited services and facilities to those with day-use reservations, reservations for in-park lodging or camping, and wilderness or Half Dome permits.<br />
<br />
Details and updates on park operations and services will continue to be posted on the park’s official website at www.nps.gov/yose.

STEVEN FEOLA, of Long Barn, California, walks on a tree he fell along Cherry Lake Road near Groveland, California. FEOLA, who works for Scott Timber, is one of many tree fallers who have been contracted by Hetch Hetchy Water & Power to remove hazardous trees that were damaged during the Rim Fire. The fire started August 17, 2013, and burned approximately 402 square miles.

Mr. CHRIS TOMASOVICH shoulders his equipment while taking a break in logging operations in Tuolumne County where the Rim Fire burned. <br />
<br />
Mr. TOMASOVICH was killed on May 30, 2014, in a logging accident while working in an area burned out by the Rim Fire. The Tuolumne County Sheriff’s Office reports that Mr. TOMASOVICH of Sonora was working for a private contractor near Cottonwood Road and Forest Road 1N84 when he was struck by a falling tree.
