The Iditarod Trail Sled Dog Race (Alaska's Last Great Race) holds a ceremonial start in Anchorage the first Saturday in March. Because the race takes place throughout remote Alaska, this is the best place for fans to meet their favorite mushers and their dogs. The official start (the restart) has taken place in Wasilla, Willow and Fairbanks, depending on snow levels.
